By virtue of their location, at just 150 to 700 metres from the sea, their forestry importance cannot be overstated. The trees are engaged in constant battle with the elements &#8211; salt and seawind \u2013 which are not kindly disposed towards them. Which means keeping the trees and woodlands untouched is quite a challenge in its own right. The woodlands are traversed by a string of paths and tracks.
